Ms Liew is the President of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). She is also a Board Director of NTUC Enterprise Co-operative Ltd and Advisor to several NTUC councils and committees for Membership, Industrial and International Relations; as well as the Maritime Cluster.

Concurrently, Ms Liew was elected as the first female General Secretary of the Singapore Maritime Officers’ Union (SMOU) since 2013 in SMOU’s 68 years of history. She is also the Director of the Wavelink Co-operative Ltd.

Ms Liew sits in several government agencies and tripartite committees which includes the Central Provident Fund Board, Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices, National Wages Council and Future Economy Council.

Internationally, Ms Liew is the Vice-President of the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) and serves in the ITF Women Transport Workers’ Committee. Ms Liew is also an active governing body member of the International Labour Organization’s (ILO).
